West Wind Harbour
Construction is underway for our six storey, 34 unit oceanfront cohousing project. Work began in January 2019 and the completion date is scheduled for September 2020. The available units are one and two bedroom apartments with dens ranging in size from just 769 square feet to over 1000 square feet. Prices will range between the mid $400,000’s to the high $600,000’s. All units will have panoramic views of Sooke Harbour, the surrounding mountains and the Olympic Peninsula in the distance.
We have designed a Built Green Gold Canada building that will be environmentally sound and energy efficient. It will balance the homeowners’ desire for privacy with access to approximately 7,000 square feet of common facilities where neighbourly interaction will occur and a strong sense of community will thrive. Included in the design are arts and crafts studios, a wood working shop, music and media rooms, a fitness room and a fantastic, well designed common kitchen and dining area. The building will be capped with a roof top terrace. In addition, there will be bicycle storage and electric vehicle charging stations.
Our location is second to none with a beautifully landscaped, waterfront acreage on a quiet street, a quick walk to the village core of Sooke.
We are actively recruiting new equity members. We have monthly weekend meetings where we plan and make decisions about our community. And while a lot of work gets done, we also have a lot of fun, eating good food and share a lot of laughs. Regularly scheduled workshops and information meeting are available for anyone interested in our project. Margaret Critchlow’s weekend workshop Is Cohousing for You? (offered quarterly) is recommended as an entry point and required for equity membership.
